Two young girls were found dead hours apart in a Florida canal on Tuesday — and police are working to determine if the mysterious deaths are related, according to reports.

The body of the first girl, believed to be between the ages of 10 and 13, was found in a canal in the city of Lauderhill at about noon, NBC Miami reported, citing police.

The girl was found wearing jean shorts and a gray T-shirt that read “Dance” in pink lettering, WPLG reported.

A second juvenile girl was discovered floating in the same waters at just before 9 p.m., the reports said.

“It is very alarming, you have a young child found in the water, it is very disturbing in the area and disturbing to the neighborhood,” Lauderhill Police Lt. Mike Santiago said after the first girl was found, according to NBC Miami.

“We just want to see what exactly happened to this child and see if she even lives in this particular area,” Santiago said.

Police said neither of the girls match the description of any reported missing persons from the area, according to WPLG.

The grisly finds stunned neighborhood residents.

“It hurts. It’s like you’ve seen your own child floating in the water,” Lawana Johnson told NBC Miami.
