Two juveniles carjacked at gunpoint in Adams County early Friday

Two armed men carjacked an SUV from two juveniles late Friday in Adams County, firing a shot at one victim’s head and barely missing, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident unfolded in the area of West 76th Avenue and Pecos Street, according to a news release. Two male juveniles were in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the Villas Apartments parking lot when two men armed with semi-automatic hand guns approached.

The men ordered the victims out of the Chevy and stole the vehicle at gunpoint. One man fired a shot at one of the juvenile’s “narrowly missing the victim’s head,” the release said. As the SUV sped away, more shots were fired from inside the Trailblazer.

About 10 minutes after the carjacking the Chevy rolled in a crash, coming to stop on its side, at West 72nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard, police said. A black handgun was found on the ground next the SUV.

Witnesses to the crash told investigators that seven men fled from the Chevy and that four of them appeared to be wearing bulletproof vests. None of the suspects were captured after the crash. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the incident, or on possible suspects, is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-231-7867 (STOP).
