Twisted man ‘records himself killing sister’s dog before playing with its body’

A man has been charged with animal cruelty after he reportedly murdered her sister's dog and used its skull as a puppet.

Harvey Willis Smith Jr. allegedly filmed himself playing with the severed head of his sister's pet after reportedly butchering the animal in the back seat of his car on February 6.

Police in Griffin, Georgia told FOX 5 that their investigation began when a woman told them that she had left her dog with her brother when she went up to New York in 2019, but when she returned in March of 2021, the dog was gone, and she couldn't figure out what happened to it.

When her brother gave her his old mobile phone she discovered multiple photos and a video of her brother killing the dog.

One of the videos showed the rear seat of a car covered with blood and her brother holding the dog's skull and moving it around like it was a puppet talking, police say.

The woman told the authorities that her brother had admitted to killing the animal, saying that he did it to "put the dog out of its misery."

Smith Jr. denied killing the dog to detectives when questioned as he said it was hit by a car and he 'ate it.'

However, investigators say that the evidence seen in the photos did not support that claim.

Griffin Chief of Police Mike Yates described the case as "one of the most disturbing" he's even seen in over 30 years working in law enforcement.

Yates said: "I cannot comprehend the mind of an individual who would commit such acts on an innocent and defenceless animal."

Smith has been arrested and charged with aggravated felony cruelty to animals.
