TV reporter astonishingly uses condom to protect microphone during Hurricane Ian
A TV reporter went to desperate lengths to make sure her microphone wasn't drenched by the rain, by covering it with a condom.
NBC's Kyla Galer made the rounds on social media after she was reporting in Florida on Hurricane Ian which has caused catastrophic floods in the state with one million Floridians losing power due to the storm.
In order not to get the mic wet, Kyla went to desperate measures to help protect her gear and she did exactly that by placing a condom on her mic.

Recognising how strange it might look to viewers tuning in to the latest developments on Hurricane Ian, Kyla addressed the unique situation to TMZ.
She spoke directly to curious viewers and said: "It is what you think it is. It's a condom. We can't get these mics wet , so, we gotta do what we gotta do."
Reporting in the Naples area of Florida, the ferociousness of Hurricane Ian is gaining by the minute as it's destroying everything in its path with maximum sustained winds of 115mph.
Jane Castor, the mayor of Tampa, has urged the public to shelter in place through the night due to the seriousness of Hurricane Ian.
Speaking at a Wednesday evening (September 28) briefing, she said: “We are going to get the majority of the rain and the higher winds starting about 8pm, and they are going to last throughout the night".

This news of this creative use of a condom comes after the dangers it could cause with young people in India soaking flavoured condoms in water and drinking a solution, causing a high.
Dheeman Mandal, an employee at at Durgapur Divisional Hospital said: "Condoms contain aromatic compounds. It breaks down to form alcohol. It is addictive.
"This aromatic compound is also found in dendrite glue, so many people use dendrite for addiction also."
