Trump says Obama and Biden’s ‘incompetence led to 17,000 dying of swine flu’ after ex-VP ripped his coronavirus response – The Sun
DONALD Trump has fired back at Joe Biden’s criticism over his coronavirus crisis handling by calling out the former vice president’s "incompetence" in handling swine flu which killed 17,000.
The president is furious at his Democrat rival who faulted him for allegedly ignoring warnings about an impending Covid-19 outbreak.
In a campaign ad, Biden said "The uncomfortable truth is that Donald Trump left America exposed and vulnerable to this pandemic.
"He ignored the warnings of health experts and intelligence agencies and put his trust in China's leaders instead."
But raging Trump hit back, tweeting: "Biden/Obama were a disaster in handling the H1N1 Swine Flu.
"Polling at the time showed disastrous approval numbers.
He added: "17,000 people died unnecessarily and through incompetence!
"Also, don’t forget their 5 Billion Dollar Obamacare website that should have cost close to nothing!"
Biden/Obama were a disaster in handling the H1N1 Swine Flu
The swine flu, or H1N1, outbreak of 2009 spread throughout the US, infecting up to 84 million Americans, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC estimated between 8,330 and 17,160 US deaths from H1N1 from April 2009 to January, 16, 2010.
Trump and Biden spoke for about 15 minutes on April 6.
The men agreed not to divulge the content of the discussion, but Trump told reporters: “We had a really wonderful, warm conversation.”
The US is currently the coronavirus outbreak epicenter, with 709,202 cases and 37,135 deaths.
About 17 million Americans, roughly 10 percent of all workers, have lost their jobs in a three-week period after the lockdown closed businesses.

Biden has also criticised Trump for allegedly failing to hold China to account over the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump's campaign has moved swiftly to mine Biden's nearly five-decade record as a senator, vice president and presidential candidate for fodder for attacks related to China.
A pro-Trump political action committee, America First Action, on Thursday unveiled $10 million in new attack ads against Biden in the battleground states Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, casting the former vice president as friendly to China's Communist regime, while highlighting Trump's decision in January to ban travel from the country after the coronavirus outbreak started there.
