A teenager has died after he was found injured on a street in Melbourne’s western suburbs on Monday night.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after emergency services were called to Bailey Street in St Albans, after reports that an injured male was on the road just after 11pm.

Police received another report that a number of people, who appeared to be armed with a knife, were seen near where the injured male was found.

The teenager died on the way to hospital.

A crime scene has been set up in the St Albans street.
