Stephen King’s Ukraine-supporting photo gets fans talking about books and socks

Legendary author Stephen King posted his support of Ukraine on Twitter with a rare photo of himself.

While he was showing his support for the country after its invasion by Russia, his fans were more interested in what was behind him and what was on his feet.

A blue and yellow fist with the words "I stand with Ukraine" can be seen plastered onto King's plain black shirt, with the Green Mile writer sporting the t-shirt with his signature cap and glasses.

The image was posted to Twitter and gathered more than 400,000 likes in less than a day, but eagle-eyed fans were keen to know what King is stood in front of as well as what he is standing for.

King proudly stated his support for Ukraine and did so standing in front of a huge bookcase crammed with books and baseball memorabilia.

The image was accompanied by a caption from King, saying: "I don't usually post pictures of myself, but today is an exception."

One humorous reply said: "Honestly can't tell if Stephen King is in a bookstore or a personal home library."

Some fans took the opportunity to rifle through the Salem's Lot author's bookshelf, where a handful of classic literary titles and authors were picked out.

George R. R. Martin's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms could be spotted on the middle third row and Mario Puzo's The Godfather series can be spotted in the bottom left.

Aside from King's prolific library, there was discussion over his footwear too, or rather lack of it.

One reply to his Ukraine-supporting post said: "I love you man, but why you in your socks at the school library?"

Another said they "didn't spot" that "the socks looked like slippers" until they noticed the "toe tips".

The continued: "Honestly though, if you own a bookstore and Stephen King walks in with no shoes, are you turning him away?"
