BBC weatherman Matt Taylor urged Brits to stay indoors this Friday due to Storm Eunice sweeping the UK. The Met Office issued a red warning and a danger to life warning, as wind speeds reach up to 100mph in parts. Mr Taylor also predicted more snowfall in Scotland and parts of the north and noted there is also numerous flood warning for the upper Bristol Channel today.

Mr Taylor said: “We’ve got quite a bit of snow over parts of Scotland at the moment, that’s going to have an impact as well on your morning travel plans.

“All that snow a little bit further North we were expecting this time yesterday but it is here, it has arrived.

“As for the winds, well they’re only starting to pick up, we’re nowhere near the peak just yet, but we’ve got them gusting around some parts of Wales and the South-West in excess of 60 and even 90mph.

“And as we’ve been mentioning they could get to around 90mph or more as we head through the morning, across some Western areas in-particular.

Mr Taylor added: The reason, of course, it is Storm Eunice and it’s very evident on the satellite imagery.

“You can see this massive swirl of cloud, this hook is a tell-tell sign of the severity of the storm.

“And the strongest of winds are just on the base of that hook, and that is out to the South of Ireland at the moment.

“But it will work itself through the morning into parts of Wales and the South West, as the low pressure.

Storm Eunice: Met Office simulates path of strengthening storm

Mr Taylor added: “Those stronger winds will transfer Eastwards through the day.

“Around the central though, not much wind at the moment, but just a reminder of where those red weather warnings are.

“Danger to life issued by the Met Office, London and South-East and towards the South-West.

“We also have numerous flood warnings, including some severe flood warnings in the upper Bristol Channel.

Mr Taylor added: “And a more widespread amber warning, across Wales and a good part of England.

“Again here, there’s still the risk of some damage and disruption as we go through the day.

“But strong winds as I mentioned, transferring from West-East as we go throughout.

“So even if it’s calm at the moment, it may not stay that way.”
