Shock vid shows NYC robber hurl ROCK at ice cream shop cashier, 23, who was left with concussion

A POTENTIAL serial robber who violently smashed a Midtown ice-cream shop worker in the head with a rock has been caught on camera.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) say the violent robbery happened around 8pm on January 20, when the suspect walked into Van Leeuwen Ice Cream at 432 3rd Avenue, threatening staff and demanding money.

A clip from CCTV at the shop and obtained by cops shows the robber pulling a rock from his bag and hitting the 23-year-old female counter assistant in the head.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows him wearing a blue face mask and black coat reel back.

The suspect then runs behind the counter and appears to enter the storage room, before footage shows him making a quick exit from the store.

But police say it remains unclear what the robber grabbed from the storage room before running off.

Citing cops, ABC7 news reported the female cashier was treated for cuts to the head and concussion at NYU Medical Center.

She is thought to be in a stable conditon.

Police believe the same bandit was connected to three other robberies in Manhattan over the last month.

Two days earlier, on Jan 18, the bandit robbed another Manhattan ice cream shop — Kaylee’s Creamery at 115 E. 27th Street — around 8pm when he made off with $400, according to police.

In two other incidents, the bandit stole woman’s purses from inside Midtown businesses on January 7 and December 27, according to cops.

These includes the theft of a 59-year-old's handbag from the lobby of tghe Stewart Hotel and The Maze restaurant on West 32nd Street, reports the Daily Mail.

The suspect did not injure any of his previous alleged victims prior to the robbery at Van Leeuwen.

Through January 24, there have been 726 reported robberies in New York City so far this year.
