Sheridan Smith is ‘lucky to be alive’ after she lost control of her Range Rover during Storm Arwen and ploughed into a tree at high speed.
The 40-year-old actress was driving the £100,000 Range Rover round a tight bend just yards from her home in Essex when she swerved off the road during icy conditions on Saturday.
Sheridan and her boyfriend Alex Lawler were said to be in the car at the time of the horror crash which left the mother-of-one with cuts and bruises, reported The Sun.

The collision caused severe damage to the higher branches of the tree, suggesting that the car may have been in the air as it crashed.
A neighbour told the publication: ‘Sheridan is so lucky to be alive. It could have been so much worse. Her car was stuck in the tree, it was a really bad crash.
‘It could have been so much worse, she had cuts and bruises, but it could have been fatal, she was incredibly lucky. It was a brand new Range Rover, she hasn’t had it long. It’s almost a miracle she’s not hurt herself more.
‘It’s an incredibly tight bend to take at the best of times, never mind in a freezing storm like Arwen. For the car to be actually stuck in the tree it must have been travelling with some force. She managed to get back to the house then someone called the cops.
‘But thank goodness there were land-owners to cut up the tree blocking the road or police would never have got through. It doesn’t bear thinking about what might have happened.’

Essex police confirmed that they had spoken to Sheridan and her boyfriend after the crash and that no other driver was involved and there had not been a crime committed.
Officers found large fragments of the £100,000 Range Rover including a rear bumper and lights on the floor at the scene.
The crash near the village of Little Sampford, Saffron Walden, Essex, came just 90 minutes before an episode of The Jonathon Ross Show – in which Sheridan was a guest – aired on ITV.
Sheridan reportedly had a backstage meltdown and threatened to sack her team in a row about misogyny after her appearance on show.

The star filmed the chat show alongside Gary Barlow, and fellow guests Jeremy Clarkson, Riz Ahmed and Sting.
But reports suggest that despite seeming in good spirits on camera, Sheridan claimed the show had a ‘chauvinistic’ atmosphere, and felt she ‘hadn’t been treated kindly,’ and lashed out at her team for organising the interview.
It’s unclear what directly upset Sheridan, who was the only female guest on that episode, but a show spokesperson said she told host Jonathan it ‘wasn’t him.’
A source told The Sun: ‘Sheridan was absolutely furious when filming on Jonathan Ross had ended.
‘She claimed the atmosphere was chauvinistic and there was an air of misogyny. She also claimed that she felt she had not been treated with kindness.
‘Sheridan was seen shouting at the team who had come with her and said she was sacking them at one point. It was clear Sheridan was upset with her team backstage after filming.’
While a spokesperson for Jonathan Ross told the publication: ‘Sheridan seemed to have a great time on the show but appeared to become upset afterwards.
‘Jonathan asked her if she was okay and she said, ”Don’t worry, it’s not you.” So Jonathan assumed it was a personal matter between Sheridan and the group of people she’d come with.
‘We will investigate immediately. I hope Sheridan knows we would never take a claim of this kind lightly.’
An ITV representative shared to MailOnline: ‘When booking the show, we are always keen to ensure we are diverse and inclusive to all. We treat our guests with courtesy and respect at all times.’
MailOnline have contacted a representative for Sheridan for comment.
During the show, the Cilla actress was seemingly in a good mood as she plugged her new Christmas single, How Christmas Is Supposed To Be, alongside Take That star Gary, 50.
Amid her chat, she revealed to host Jonathan, 61, that she has filled her home six donkeys and six dogs because she wanted her son Billy to grow up around animals.
The performer admitted her working-class parents never let her have pets so she got ‘carried away’ buying animals when her son was born.
She said: ‘When I was younger we grew up very working class and I begged my mum and dad to let me have animals and they were like ‘no’… now I have a son who is 17 months old and I think I wanted him to grow up around animals.’
Sheridan also revealed she is a long-term fan of Gary’s, saying: ‘I’ve never told Gary but he was my favourite.

‘I love Bros as well but Take That, I grew up with them. We met backstage at the Royal Variety show and I was dressed as Cilla.
‘He [Gary] came backstage and I said ‘Hiya. I’m a big fan. Do you want to take my number?’
‘And then when we were in lockdown Gary did Crooner Sessions with Sting and all these amazing people and asked me to join in and then rang me and said he’d written a Christmas song and I was honoured to jump at the chance.’
After the candid interview, Sheridan and Gary took to the stage to perform their duet How Christmas Is Supposed To Be.

The Jonathan Ross Show drama comes months after Sheridan issued a warning to her enemies and told ‘the snakes’ who betrayed her that her lawyers are ready to take them down.
Taking to Instagram in May to deliver the message, the fuming actress wrote: ‘Never again will I trust snakes! Shady snakes lie low and act big! Wait till I tell you.’
Threatening legal action, she added: ‘Lawyers at the ready mfs [motherf**kers].’
During the social media outburst, the Cilla actress also shared a post that read: ‘We never lose friends. We just learn who the real ones are.’
The cryptic warning came as Sheridan was in the midst of writing a tell-all biography called Honestly.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Sheridan paid tribute to her new boyfriend Alex Lawler during her emotional first concert for two and a half years.
The Cleaning Up star admitted: ‘I’ve got a new man. My mum’s not here, she’d kill me. But I do, I have a new gorgeous man who’s here tonight and he’s never seen me perform.’
She has reportedly been dating her new man since early September, two decades after they were originally a couple, and he was there to see her perform for the first time at the gig.
In the summer, she split from her fiancé Jamie Horn just over a year after their son Billy – Sheridan’s only child – was born.
While shortly before, Sheridan sparked engagement speculation as she shared a picture of herself cosying up to Alex.
She rested her hand on her partner’s cheek, with a large diamond ring on full display, and captioned the image, ‘Life begins at 40. 40\40,’ along with a heart emoji.
