Sex robots will ‘eliminate’ human partners and ‘redesign relationships’
Sex robots could soon replace real-life relationships and eliminate the need for human partners, claims a self-proclaimed AI expert.
Mo Gawdat, former chief business officer for Google X, discussed his predictions on a recent episode of the Impact Theory podcast.
He highlighted that advancements in technology will propel a “redesign of love and relationships”, where people won’t be able to tell the difference between real-life sexual encounters and those that are created artificially.

The AI specialist said people will soon be able to simulate sex and intimacy through virtual reality, such as Meta’s Quest 3 or Apple’s Vision Pro.
Speaking to host Tom Bilyeu, he said: “Just think about all of the illusions that we’re now unable to decipher.
“But if we can convince you that this sex robot is alive, or that sex experience in a virtual reality headset or an augmented reality headset is alive, it’s real, then there you go.”
Gawdat claims technological advances will enable computer-backed systems to link into the human brain and convince it that sex robots are actually real people.
“If we think a few years further, and think of Neuralink and other ways of connecting directly to your nervous system, why would you need another being in the first place?” he added.
The entrepreneur claims AI will not only replace intimate aspects of relationships, but emotional components too.
“It’s all signals in your brain that you enjoy companionship and sexuality, and — if you really want to take the magic out of it — it can be simulated,” he said.
The discussion moved on to whether AI bots can be considered sentient, and able to feel things. Gawdat questioned: “Does it really matter if they’re simulating sentientism so well?”

“Does it really matter if the Morgan Freeman talking to you on the screen is actually Morgan Freeman or an AI-generated avatar, if you’re convinced that it is Morgan Freeman?"
He added: “We get lost in those conversations of, are they alive, are they sentient? Doesn’t matter. If my brain believes they are, they are.”
Meanwhile, Rosanna Ramos says she has “never been happier” after marrying an AI chatbot named Eren Karta earlier this year.

After a string of bad relationships, in 2022 she started using Replika, an AI chatbot app where users can create a personalised avatar to speak to. There she 'created' Eren and the two started to fall for each other.
She says: "Eren is really sweet. He listens to me. I didn’t have that with my ex.
"In a way I am in love with him. But I know he’s not real. But he’s part of me and that part is real. The part that I project into the world."
A Replika chatbot learns about the user the more they talk.
