School sports coach arrested for sexual assault of girl she taught volleyball
A volleyball coach from a respected Christian high school has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of one of the girls she teaches.
Elisabeth R. Bredemeier was reported to the authorities by the victim’s family after an alleged series of sexual assaults that took place off school grounds, according to a report from the Chesterfield Police Department.
Bredemeier coached the young girl at the $8,000 [£5,800] a year Richmond Christian School [RCS] in Chesterfield Virginia.
Responding to enquiries from journalists, a school spokesperson stated that Ms Bredemeier no longer worked there.
It’s unclear exactly when she left. The school’s website lists two other staff members as volleyball coaches.
A statement from the school said: "We are deeply disturbed by the allegations; we take these developments and their potential impact on our community very seriously, and we are cooperating with authorities.
"Child safety, education, and development are paramount here at RCS.
"Since this is an ongoing police investigation, given the legal process, please understand that we are not able to comment further at this time."

In addition to her work at RCS Bredemeier worked at the nearby Richmond Volleyball Club as an assistant coach for the boys’ team.
The club said that the post is seasonal and the season ended in June.
A manager at Richmond Volleyball Club said she had no comments on Bredemeier's charges, but maintained that the club has strong policies in place to protect its players.
Bredemeier has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a child by a custodian and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
It's not currently clear if she has legal representation and she remains behind bars.
Bredemeier, 21, also hosts a podcast titled "Let’s Talk Trauma". The podcast is described as an open space to talk about and listen to people's traumatic experiences.
