Rupert Murdoch’s son James dressed down for day three of ‘billionaire summer camp’ alongside Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Sheryl Sandberg, as the media mogul kept a low profile.
Murdoch, 49, cut a casual figure on Friday at the Sun Valley camp, wearing dark-colored pants and a navy blue polo shirt. He accessorized with a nametag, white sunglasses tucked into his shirt, a simple timepiece, and a black stainless steel water bottle.
The media mogul’s son was accompanied by his wife Kathryn Hufschmid, who was seen sporting dark pants, an patterned button-down and accessorizing with a silver watch, small zipper bag, and large sunglasses.
Also in attendance, was Microsoft founder Bill Gates, 66; investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett, 91; and former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg, 52.
Sandberg cut a stark contrast in her outfit on Friday, wearing blinding white jeans and a black t-shirt and sweater as she held hands with her partner and former NBC News producer Thomas Bernthal. He cut a similar figure, but opted for a more toned-down pant color, leaving his bright orange shoes to be the star of the show.
Gates – whose daughter Phoebe received online hate this week after posting a photo of her black boyfriend – seemed calm and ready to go as he too opted for a casual ensemble.
The annual, invite-only, conference is hosted by the investment bank Allen & Company. This year, the five-day conference, running from July 6 to 10, is being held at the edge of Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest in a tiny town of just 1,500 people.

Among the other influential names on the guest list are: Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and his successor, Andy Jassy, as well as Apple’s Tim Cook, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, according to Infowars.
The site reported that Netflix’s Reed Hastings and WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar are two of the invitees from the world of media, along with Diane Sawyer, Anderson Cooper, Van Jones, Gayle King and New York Times columnist, Thomas Friedman.
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 80, has also been snapped smiling while out for a walk with ophthalmologist girlfriend Dana Blumberg, 47, at the exclusive event earlier this week.
Other members of moneyed dynasties snapped on Day One included Shari Redstone, whose family made their fortune with shares in media giant ViacomCBS, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Over the holiday weekend, private jets belonging to business leaders began arriving at the local airport and taking up space on the tarmac at Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey as they parked up for the week.
Attendees at the last conference in 2019 included: Facebook bosses, Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg; Disney’s Bob Iger; 23andMe CEO Anne Wojcicki; Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of Fox Corporation; PayPal CEO Dan Schulman; Instagram COO Marne Levine; McDonald’s chief Steve Easterbrook and billionaire media executive Shari Redstone.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk, 51, is expected to speak at the five-day event sometime this week, but he might just come across some enemies after it was revealed that his Neuralink employee Shivon Zilis, 36 – who secretly birthed his newest set of twins – mocked Zuckerberg and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.
Musk, now a father of nine, is set to deliver the marquee address at the annual conference. The world’s richest man is slated to give the speech at the Idaho stage.
It’s not yet clear what Musk’s speech will entail, but the SpaceX founder is set to close on his $44billion Twitter takeover in October after a judge dismissed a lawsuit seeking to halt the deal.
