A revenge porn victim has revealed how she was ‘disgusted and embarrassed’ when her abusive ex-boyfriend posted explicit pictures of her on social media.
Laura Alcock, from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, has shared her story in a bid to help others after her former partner Kenny Davis, 34, was jailed for 12 weeks at Derbyshire Magistrates Court last month.
The mother-of-six, 35, discovered that pornographic photographs and videos of her, which were taken without her knowledge, had been posted on Instagram in March last year.
Ms Alcock said she felt ‘disgusted’ and ’embarrassed’ by what had happened and decided to pluck up the courage to report it.

‘I want people to know that you should not be ashamed and there is a lot of support available,’ she said.
‘Please remember your worth. Nobody deserves to be degraded in this way. This wasn’t my fault and it isn’t your fault either.
‘It doesn’t matter if you were in a relationship, sent the photos or consented to have them taken. That doesn’t give anyone the right to share those sort of images with other people. The police take it very seriously.’
Ms Alcock said she met Davis online in September 2018, adding he first appeared to be a ‘Prince Charming’ before she soon became trapped in an abusive relationship.
Davis was ordered by Derbyshire Magistrates Court to attend a Building Better Relationships course following a conviction for Assault by Beating in July 2019.
But Ms Alcock decided to restart their relationship after Davis promised he had changed.

She said: ‘I was still in denial that he was a bad person at this point. He controlled me and he would often turn on me and his mood would change instantly.
‘He had two sides to him, I would describe him as a narcissist. He would criticise everything I did.’
More than a year later, Ms Alcock decided to leave Davis in December 2019 when she was eight months pregnant.
But last March, the mother discovered Davis had posted explicit images her online, which she says was in an attempt to humiliate her after she ended the relationship.
She said: ‘Our daughter was born in January and he would constantly talk about me online.
‘He would pretend to our friends that he was the perfect partner, he would post on social media that we were a perfect family, when he wasn’t even allowed to be near me.’
Ms Alcock explained the photographs were taken without her consent, including images of her ‘in compromising positions’ snapped while she was asleep.
She said: ‘I didn’t know he had taken those photos but I still blamed myself and questioned if I deserved it. He didn’t care what he had done.
‘I didn’t consent to having those photos taken of me and never to having them shared. I was so embarrassed and disgusted he could do this to me.

‘When I saw them online and I was horrified. They were so seedy and I couldn’t forget about them so I decided to report it.’
Ms Alcock immediately reported the images to the police, adding: ‘I was taken seriously, it is a very serious crime.
‘I was listened to and supported and given lots of advice for other organisations that can help.’
Davis initially pleaded not guilty to two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress, before changing to a guilty plea on February 4.
He was jailed for 12 weeks at Derbyshire Magistrates Court and handed a two-year restraining order.
Ms Alcock said: ‘I don’t think the sentence was long enough for what he did. I have to deal with it every day.
‘I can understand why people don’t want to go to the police but I am glad I did and you are listened to and supported, there is help out there.’
‘I withdrew from my friends but I would urge anyone in a difficult or controlling relationship to reach out and confide in your friends or family, tell someone, talk to someone. I wish I had spoken out earlier.’
