Remains believed to belong to missing Denver woman found in rural Adams County; husband arrested

Denver police have found, what they believe to be, the remains of a missing 24-year-old woman and have arrested a suspect in the case.

Jasmin Cigarroa was reported missing on Wednesday after no one had seen or heard from her since Tuesday, according to a news release.

On Thursday, investigators began a search for her in rural Adams County which was suspended because of darkness. On Friday morning investigators found remains, believed to be of Cigarroa, in an area near East 26th Avenue and Powhaton Road. The remains will be positively identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. The coroner will also establish the cause and manner of death.

On Friday afternoon, police arrested Jonathan Nuno Mijangos, 23, on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to the news release. An arrest affidavit in the case has been sealed, police said.

An investigation is ongoing. Police describe the case as a domestic-violence homicide.
