Queen gives ‘favourite’ grandchild special privilege during Balmoral visit
The Queen's "favourite" grandchild has been granted a special privilege while she's holidaying at the Balmoral estate, according to an insider.
Lady Louise Windsor is the 17-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Louise, who inherits an artistic flair and a love of drawing from her ancestor Queen Victoria, has been given access to a special collection of rarely-seen artwork.
Queen Victoria’s artwork was intended purely for her family’s entertainment and indeed in 1847, the royal family filed an injunction to prevent journalist, Jasper Tomsett Judge, from publishing some 60 of the then Queen’s etchings that he had managed to get his hands on.
But Louise has been granted access to some of these "secret" artworks.
A source told The Sun: "Because of her obvious artistic skill, the Queen allowed Louise to look through some of the collection of Queen Victoria’s Highlands sketches which are kept at Balmoral but are rarely dug out these days."
She has even tried to pass on her gifts to some of her younger relatives while they’re all away together.

Louise has also reportedly made herself popular at Balmoral by looking after Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children while they were visiting the secluded highland retreat.
The source said: "Louise loves drawing and sketching and was very patiently trying to get Charlotte to do pictures of rabbits and deer."
Louise’s mother, Sophie Wessex, says that she and Prince Edward have tried to give their children a "normal" life.

She said: "They go to a regular school. They go to friends for sleepovers and parties. At weekends we do lots of dog walking and stay with friends.
"I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are.

"When they are with the Queen, she is their grandmother.
Louise reportedly treasures her time at Balmoral.
"The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James," the source went on.
