Princess Beatrice has revealed that she is pregnant and is expecting a baby in the autumn.

Prince Andrew's daughter eldest daughter is expecting her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Her grandmother the Queen is said to be "delighted" by the news.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year.

"The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The news is thought to have brought joy to the monarch and the Royal Family who are mourning the loss of Prince Philip. He died aged 99 on April 9.

Buckingham Palace included a picture of the couple on their wedding day to celebrate the news.

Beatrice, 32, and Edoardo, 38, married in July 2020. The baby will be Andrew's second grandchild after his other daughter Princess Eugenie gave birth to son August in February of this year.

The couple tied the knot in a surprise secret wedding at the Royal Chapel of All Saints.

It took place in the grounds of Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's home of Royal Lodge, in Windsor Great Park.

They had been due to tie the knot at the Chapel Royal of St James's Palace, in London, on May 29, but it the ceremony was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Instead the couple chose to have an intimate ceremony attended by just "close family".

Beatrice is currently ninth in line to the throne.

The baby will be the Queen's 12th great-grandchild following the expected arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's second child this summer.
