'Pregnant' woman killed after being hit by train in front of horrified commuters in Slough
POLICE are investigating after a pregnant woman was killed when she was hit by a train at a packed train station.
The passenger was struck by the train during rush hour this morning in front of horrified commuters at Slough.
Emergency services were scrambled at around 8.51am but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Officers are continuing to investigate a fatality at Slough railway station this morning.
"Officers were called to the station at 8.51am to reports that a woman had been struck by a train. She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"The woman has not yet been formally identified, but it is believed that she had been pregnant at the time of her death.
"Officers are continuing to work to establish the circumstances around how the woman came to be struck by the train, and specialist officers are supporting her family at this difficult time.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, with reference 54 of 8 January."

This morning's incident caused travel chaos with all lines between Reading and London Paddington blocked.
Some services were delayed by up to 90 minutes and trains were cancelled, with passengers urged to use Chiltern Railways or CrossCountry's services as an alternative.
Great Western Railway services are being hugely affected but some lines have started to open up between Reading and Paddington.
