Pregnant woman finds dead RAT in her soup at Chinese restaurant… only for manager to issue the most shocking response

RESTAURANT bosses told a pregnant woman who found a dead RAT in her soup that they would be willing to pay for her abortion, it is claimed.

The shocking offer was allegedly made after the woman raised concerns about what effect eating some of the soup may have on her unborn child.

The South China Morning Post reports authorities have now temporarily closed the branch of popular hotpot restaurant chain Xiabu Xiabu in Weifang, Shandong province, China.

The respected newspaper says the husband, named only with his surname Ma, was eating with his family at the restaurant last Thursday.

It is claimed his wife then found the small baby rat dead in the soup.

Ma said that restaurant staff had told him: "If you are worried about the baby, then we’ll give you 20,000 yuan (£2,300) to abort it," Kankan News reported.

Ma said the manager also offered compensation of 5,000 (£560) yuan to pay for a hospital check-up.

Health inspectors from the Market Supervision Bureau of Kuiwen district, Weifang, confirmed a report had been received about the rat found in hotpot soup.
