Boris Johnson has said England's Plan B coronavirus measures are to be scrapped for Plan A.

The Prime Minister confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that the legal requirement self-isolation will be allowed to lapse when the regulations expire.

A House of Commons vote could even see the date in over two months time brought forward.

Mr Johnson said that from March 24 he will trust the judgment of people on whether they decide to wear a mask or not, but suggests they are used in certain places.

The government has spent weeks encouraging the public to get their booster jab as protection against Covid-19 following the mass spread of the mutated Omicron variant.

While the affects of Omicron appear to be less damaging than previous strains, the PM said on Wednesday that it is not a mild disease for everyone.
