NB lanes of I-25 in Castle Rock were shut down for about an hour Friday morning.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 on the southside of Castle Rock were shut down for about an hour on Friday morning as part of a fatal auto-pedestrian crash investigation.

The stretch was closed at 10 a.m. and fully reopened at about 11:15 a.m., said Master Trooper Gary Cutler of the Colorado State Patrol.

A woman was hit by three vehicles in the northbound lanes of I-25 at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday. She died at the scene.

A preliminary investigation is finding the pedestrian at fault in the incident, Cutler said. As part of the ongoing investigation a drone was used over the stretch of highway on Friday morning, and it could not be done, by law, without shutting down the lanes below to traffic.

Traffic was detoured during the Friday morning closure of the highway stretch.
