Moment two teenage thugs lead police on 110mph chase before car is rammed by armed officers – as judge lets duo walk FREE for violent robbery when she heard they felt under ‘pressure’ from others
- Samuel Mozimbi and Derek Dapaah, both now 18, were spared prison sentences
- Judge Sarah Johnston even admitted that her sentence may be seen as ‘lenient’
- But Judge Johnston said they may have been acting under ‘pressure’ from others
Two teenagers who led police on a 110mph car chase after robbing two men with a knife and a fake gun have been spared prison.
Samuel Mozimbi and Derek Dapaah, both now 18, were not locked up because they had ‘unique and complex histories’.
Judge Sarah Johnston admitted her sentence may seem ‘lenient’ but said they may have been acting under ‘pressure’ from others.
She gave both of them just two-year Youth Referral Orders and said she was focused on ‘preventing further offences’.

Mozimbi and Dapaah were on trial at Manchester Crown Court for robbing the two men, 17 and 21, in Levenshulme in 2020.
They lured their victims into an alleyway – under the false pretence of buying a watch – before taking a Gucci hat, a Hugo Boss watch, a bracelet and a silver VW Golf.
The yobs held the two men in the victims’ car with a fake gun to the head of the 21-year-old and a knife to the throat of the 17-year-old.
The court heard Dapaah kept hold of the victim’s throat and said: ‘I will f***ing stab you I don’t give a f***.’
The victims called the police and the empty lockdown streets at about 7.30pm meant armed officers out on patrol spotted the car soon after.
But Mozimbi and Dapaah refused to stop and a dangerous car chase ensued from the city centre towards south Manchester.
The court was shown footage of their dangerous driving at speeds of up to 110pmh during the trial.
The officers’ dash camera caught them hurtling along the residential road to keep up with the violent thugs. It only ended when the Golf crashed on the A6 in Longsight.
The officers decided it was safer for them to ram the thugs before arresting them at gunpoint as they tried to escape.

Dapaah, from Manchester, admitted two counts of robbery, one count of possession of an imitation firearm and one count of dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to a two-year youth rehabilitation order and disqualified from driving for two years.
Mozimbi, also of Manchester, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery. He was sentenced to a two-year youth rehabilitation order and 60 hours of unpaid work.
Judge Johnston admitted the sentences were ‘lenient’ but said they had ‘unique and complex histories’.
She said Mozimbi, from the Congo, had been through ‘traumatic’ experiences, was stabbed in February and has had ‘threat to life’ warnings from police.
According to the MeN, Judge Johnston said in sentencing her ‘lenient’ sentences were to ‘prevent further offences’.
She said: ‘That is not to minimise the significance of these offences and the impact on their victims, nor to diminish the concerns of the wider community.’

She added: ‘The future is very much in their hands as to whether the court’s trust is rewarded.’
Some locals slammed the ‘pitiful’ sentences the teen received but praised the Greater Manchester Police.
Livid local Angela Hyde said: ‘Great work GMP, just a shame about the pitiful sentence.’
Gary Bright said: ‘And people wonder why gun and knife crime is out of control* absolute disgrace those sentences, the justice system is not fit for purpose.’
Melissa Thomas said: ‘Those sentences are appalling.’ Helen Davies said: ‘Why youth rehabilitation? They are 18-year-old adults!’
Det Con Leon Cawley-Bowyer, of Greater Manchester Police’s Operation Valiant, said: ‘This pair had absolutely no regard for the safety of others.
‘They threatened their victims with extreme violence before driving dangerously through residential areas.’
