Meghan and Harry are using ‘their position in a positive way like Diana’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been "really taking on" lessons of Princess Diana's legacy – and it's what she would have 'wanted', a close pal to the late mum has said.

He went on to say that Princess Di would have been proud of how the Sussexes are 'using their position' for positivity.

The royal couple have embraced a new way of addressing causes close to their heart after announcing the decision to step back as working senior members of The Firm in March last year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have spoken out against racism, politics via the power of voting, as well as advocating to change the stigma surrounding mental health.

Princess Diana's close friend and voice coach, Stewart Pearce, insisted the way they have conducted themselves after moving to the US and focusing on her 'legacy' would have been 'what she would've wanted' if she were alive today.

Speaking to US Weekly's Royally US podcast, he said: "The point is they're really taking on so much of what her legacy is.

"To bring liberation to the disenfranchised, the disassociated the LGBTQ community, Black Lives Matter, #MeToo.

"All of this is within the understanding of what liberation she wanted to bring about in the sense of using her position as an egalitarian or humanitarian role because people looked on her as being of iconic status.

"She wanted to use that position in a really positive way to say, 'look, if I can support this, there's no reason why the collective can't move in to support this very genuine, authentic, integral process that brings about the liberation of human spirit."

He added: "I feel that their voice is a voice of liberation and they are doing exactly what Diana would have wanted them to do.

"There is a lot in the collective shadow that needs to be expressed and our work is all about expressing it so we move to healing."

Prince Harry opened up about his mental health and experience within the British Royal Family while chatting to Oprah Winfrey alongside his wife Meghan Markle in March.

He also joined up with the TV host again for their Apple docuseries last month, The Me You Can't See, where he brought up how he insisted he wanted to 'break the cycle' of suffering he claimed dad Prince Charles passed down to him and brother William.
