Man who killed teacher before having sex with body told guards he’d ‘kill again’
A man allegedly trying to prove he was “mentally ill” strangled a teacher, had sex with her body and then said that he wanted to kill again.
A new report claims that Carl Langdell, 31, killed Katie Locke, 23, before he made the terrifying claims.
He later took his own life after telling healthcare experts that he had a “psychotic” disorder and had been receiving “subliminal messages”.

Langdell was serving time at ‘Monster Mansion’ HMP Wakefield where his mental health is understood to have deteriorated as he worked through a 26-year sentence.
Langdell, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, killed Ms Locke on Christmas Eve in 2015 after meeting her on the dating app Plenty of Fish.
He had lied to her about being a lawyer and set up a fake LinkedIn account to make his lies seem more convincing.
After meeting, he requested a late checkout with hotel staff – Katie’s body was later found in a laundry trolley in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire.
Following the killing, he was caught and put on remand at HMP Frankland where he began to behave erratically.
The reports said: “In January 2016, while on remand at HMP Frankland, Mr Langdell told healthcare staff that he would prove he was mentally ill by killing someone, before taking his own life.

“He later harmed himself by cutting and needed hospital treatment. Mr Langdell was also violent on several occasions and assaulted officers.
“He was diagnosed with emotionally unstable, dissocial and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders.”
In March, following his conviction for Katie’s murder, his claims about subliminal messages were regarded by psychologists as “fabricated delusions” despite claiming he was ready to take another life to prove it.
In June 2016 the report claims: “A psychiatrist at Frankland referred Mr Langdell to Rampton High-Security Hospital and he was transferred in July 2017.
“In hospital, Mr Langdell made further significant attempts to harm himself and threatened to harm staff."
He was eventually transferred to HMP Wakefield in 2019 after he was determined to “not have a psychotic illness,” and that his sentence should be served in prison.
The report says that within two years of his time at Wakefield he was threatening to kill anyone who walked by his cell.
“On 21 January, Mr Langdell’s behaviour deteriorated, he spat at anyone who walked past his cell and shouted that he would hurt or kill anyone who went into his cell.”
On February 11 2021, he was found by guards and was pronounced dead that night.
