Man ‘beheads dad and covers himself in intestines before hitting cars with head’

A man allegedly decapitated his dad before draping himself in his intestines and wandering the streets, foreign media reports.
Dmitry Ponomarenko, 30, was apprehended by police in Odessa, southern Ukraine yesterday, January 20.
He had emerged from his flat covered in blood and was hitting cars with his dad’s head, local media reports.
One resident said: “A naked and bloodied man, wrapped in guts and holding the head of a man came out of the front, sat on a bench and lit a cigarette.”
Ponomarenko told officers "he is a god who is not worshipped".
Police found the corpse of his dad, 53-year-old Igor Ponomarenko, in his apartment block.
Aleksandr Demchenko, 32, had also been maimed and killed.
A police spokesman said: “We received calls from shocked people reporting a man walking in the neighbourhood with a severed head in his hand.”
Ponomarenko was arrested and could face 15 years in prison if convicted of double murder.

A source claimed he was fired from his job at the Duke Hotel the previous day for being under the influence of drugs and inappropriate behaviour.
When asked why he had carried out the killings, Ponomarenko allegedly told witnesses “he had to”.
Earlier this month, a mum was jailed in Ukraine after stabbing her newborn son to death with scissors before throwing his body into a bin.
Anastasia Skorychenko, 30, went into labour at her home after keeping her pregnancy secret, a court in the city of Mykolaiv heard.

Her other two daughters, aged seven and four, and her grandmother were sleeping at the time.
Skorychenko went to the balcony and used nail scissors to cut the umbilical cord, the Zavodskoy District Court heard.
She then began stabbing the newborn with the scissors, according to court records.
Skorychenko put the body in a plastic bag and carried it outside before throwing it into a rubbish container, according to investigators.
