Large UK earthquake sees homes rocked and startled residents forced awake

A significant earthquake has rocked homes and woken people up in Scotland, with local reporting serious shaking.

It registered 3.1 on the Richter scale and caused widespread disturbance at around 2am on Tuesday morning.
