Kate Middleton apologises after she’s scolded for ‘not looking like Cinderella’
Kate Middleton is often commended for her glam outfit choices and stunning accessories, but she once had to apologise for not impressing a three-year-old fan.
The Duchess of Cambridge was hit with an honest observation from a little girl named Annabel, who had assumed that Kate would look like a Disney Princess.
Kate was visiting Swansea with Prince William when she had the funny encounter with Rhian Costello and Annabel, who noticed that she didn't "look like Cinderella" during their exchange in 2020.
Her mother Rhian said she had been anticipating coming face to face with a "real princess" so was left a bit deflated due to Kate not wearing a Disney-inspired gown.
It forced Kate to apologise "for not wearing a pretty dress" in a very cute exchange, reports The Mirror.
Instead of a glitzy gown, Kate opted for a Hobbs coat, Zara dress and an eye-catching Beulah London scarf.
Rhian explained at the time: "My daughter loves fairy tales and Cinderella, and she was really excited to meet a real princess.
"Kate said 'I'm really sorry I'm not wearing a pretty dress today' and Annabel said: 'I thought you'd look like Cinderella'."
But Rhian told the Daily Mail that despite not wearing a big puffy dress, Annabel was "so taken" with the Duchess.

She added: "Annabel was so taken with her, she went up and gave her a huge hug and I was extremely surprised that Kate embraced her in such a way."
No doubt Kate has spent time recently putting extra thought into the outfits she plans to take with her on her and William's Caribbean tour that starts on March 19.
Buckingham Palace confirmed last month that they would be travelling to the Caribbean for a week-long trip to help mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
The tour starts on Saturday, March 19 and will take in Belize, Jamaica and The Bahamas before ending on March 26.
Kensington Palace said William and Kate will visit historic Mayan sites and celebrate the rich culture of the Garifuna community in Belize, as well as explore the country’s biodiversity.
In Jamaica, they will meet with the Jamaican Defence Force and celebrate the legacy of Bob Marley and other groundbreaking Jamaican musicians alongside potential stars of the future.
In the Bahamas, the Cambridges will visit a number of islands and experience a world-famous junkanoo parade.
A Kensington Palace spokeswoman said: “Their Royal Highnesses are very much looking forward to the visit, which will be their first joint official overseas tour since the onset of Covid-19 in 2020.”
