Kate Middleton and Prince William’s popularity soars despite fallout from Megxit
.Kate Middleton and Prince William have soared in popularity despite the turbulent fallout of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last year, a royal expert claims.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have both won fans in the US but it appears the Cambridges have also managed to maintain and gain success since the couple moved across the pond.
Richard Eden, a royal commentator, writes in the Daily Mail that accounts for the Royal Foundation have increased to a staggering £11.78 million since Harry and Meghan's departure from the Firm.
It previously stood at just £6.68 million in 2019.
At the beginning of their split, the so-called 'Meghan effect' created publicity around the royals, albeit not always in a positive way, but Mr Eden claims the Royal Foundation's accounts have continued to rise for the last two years.
While some in the US may have been influenced by the remarks made by the Sussexes, the Foundation has benefited from a £2.59million grant from the American Friends of the Royal Foundation.
Mr Eden said: "When Prince Harry and Meghan quit the Royal Foundation they led with Prince William and Catherine, their cheerleaders predicted it would have a dramatic effect on the charity's finances. And it has — they've soared!
"I can reveal that the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a surge in income last year, to a staggering £11.78 million.
