The grieving aunt of ITV News presenter Teresa McMahon has claimed she was the victim of abuse in the days leading up to her tragic death at a pre-inquest review hearing.
The producer and news editor, 43, was found hanged at her flat in Little Hulton, Salford, on August 3, 2021.
Sister Naomi McMahon, aunt Lorna and uncle Steven McMahon attended the Bolton hearing on Friday (February 4) and made their comments to senior coroner for Manchester West Timothy Brennand.
Lorna told Mr Brennand that Teresa had never shown any expression of "self-harm or suicidal intent" and was not under the treatment of mental health services.
However, she raised "safeguarding concerns" around her sister, reports the Manchester Evening News.
During the hearing, it was established that reports of concerns over abuse had been reported to police before her death – by friends, colleagues and family members.
Lorna said: "Teresa said she was going to work in London with ITV for three months to get away from this [abuse]."
And she complained that the police were yet to interview those concerned, even though "there was evidence she was assaulted on a number of occasions".
She added: "I am hoping the police will look into this further. Friends, colleagues and neighbours had all reported that Teresa was attacked.

"Just because Teresa isn't here today, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be looked into."
As a result of Lorna's appeals, Granada Reports presenter Lucy Meacock, who she said was "fully aware of Teresa's problems", will be called as a witness at a full inquest later this year.
Mr Brennand told Lorna: "If there are criminal proceedings, the coronial investigation will be suspended."
He said that his jurisdiction extended only to how Teresa died, but added: "I also have to look into if the death was preventable."
