Indian MP drinks cow urine to stave off Covid-19 as nation ravaged by virus

With Covid-19 running rampant across India, and oxygen and other essentials in short supply, people are turning to all kinds of folk remedies in a bid to stave off the virus.

Among them is Indian MP Surendra Singh, who swears by cow urine as a remedy for coronavirus, and in fact everything.

The Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Uttar Pradesh province uploaded a video of himself chugging down a pint of “gaumutra”, as he calls it, which he claims is the secret to perfect health.

He says two to three measures of the cow urine should be mixed in a glass of water.

Mr Singh advises health-conscious urine drinkers to gulp it down on an empty stomach, and then, says, "don't consume anything for half an hour” to allow the urine to work its magic.

He also advised health freaks to buy Patanjali-brand cow urine if they are unable to source any cow’s urine for themselves.

The product is available as a drink, or packaged in capsules if that’s a little more palatable.

The manufacturers claim that the product kills toxins within the body and is also an effective treatment for diseases ranging from obesity to cancer to kidney and liver ailments.

The urine is also touted as a remedy for diabetes and enthusiasts maintain that urine from a pregnant cow is particularly effective.

Mr Singh also recommends regularly consuming roasted turmeric powders party of a healthy lifestyle.
