Hull City striker Abel Hernandez's dementia-stricken dad found by cops after vanishing while on a walk
HULL City striker Abel Hernandez's dad has been found by cops after vanishing this afternoon when he went for a walk.
Uruguayan Juan Hernandez, 70, doesn't speak any English and suffers from dementia. His disappearance sparked a police appeal for help.
Humberside Police confirmed to The Sun Online he had been found, while Abel tweeted: "Hello everyone. Finally we have found him well. Thank you very much to all supporters and to the police for helping us."
Club midfielder David Meyler had earlier tweeted: "Missing in Elloughton/Brough area Juan Hernandez 70 years old, please if you have seen him contact 07763613009 or the Police. Please RT and share to help find Juan."
Meyler was one of many footballers who rallied round to help Abel Hernandez find his dad.
27-year-old Hernandez made his debut with the Uruguay national team in 2010, and was signed to Hull City on September 1 2014 for a club record £10million on a three-year contract.
The gifted striker was named Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year at the club's annual awards in May 2016.
Fellow Hull City player Jon Toral told The Hull Daily Mail: "He has been missing since this morning. He left at half 11 and we haven't heard anything since. He has no phone, no money and he lives in Brough."
In a statement, Humberside Police had said: "We’re concerned for the safety of 70-year-old Juan Hernandez who has gone missing from Brough this morning (18 January 2018).
"Mr Hernandez, who has dementia, went for a walk from a house on Sands Lane but hasn’t returned.
