Hillary Clinton could be planning to to run for President in 2024, an expert has suggested. The former Secretary of State could make a third run at the White House branding herself as a more “moderate” choice than Joe Biden. Ms Clinton has previously stated she would not run for President, however a former aide to her husband Bill Clinton claimed she could run to “save” Democrats from the left wing of the party.

Dick Morris, political consultant and former senior aide to Mr Clinton, claimed “Hillary [was] just dusting off Bill‘s playbook that I wrote for him and applying it herself this year”.

He noted that Ms Clinton had also criticised the Biden administration’s “open borders” saying Americans “do not believe in open borders”.

Bill Clinton beat Republican George Bush Sr. in 1992 running as a moderate Democrat. Mr Clinton was then the Governor of Arkansas – a state which had voted Republican in the previous three Presidential elections.

Speaking to John Catsimatidis on his WABC 770 AM radio show, Mr Morris said: “I see more and more signs that Hillary’s going to run.”

He added: “These are all signals that she is going to be the moderate candidate for president. She’s going to say after the [midterm] election, ‘See, the left cost us the House and the Senate. If we stay with a left-wing candidate in 2024, we’re going to lose the White House. I’m the only one who will tack to the centre and give us a chance at victory’.”

The Democratic Party, with President Biden at the helm, has been widely perceived as moving further left, influenced by the progressive wing of the party which has gained significant support.

Some high profile progressive Democrats include Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders – technically an Independent who caucuses with Democrats – and New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Mr Morris believes that if Democrats ran one of these polarising figures as its candidate for President, the results would be catastrophic for the Party.

He said: “Once Biden pulls out, the polling will show that the Democrats are leaning toward some crazy radical like Gavin Newson, Bernie Sanders. Maybe even Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez herself.

”That’s going to drive the Democratic Party leaders to go to Hillary and say, ‘Hey look. Please run again. We need you to save us from the crazy left.

“‘Otherwise we’ll have Sanders as our candidate. We’ll lose Congress by a ton. And we’ll get wiped out in the presidential race’.”

It is unknown whether Mr Biden will run for office in 2024. It was previously thought that he would be a self-imposed one-term President, however there have been rumours of his election campaign gearing up.

Hillary Clinton presided over what was arguably one of the darkest days for Democrats in recent memory.

She lost to then Presidential Candidate Donald Trump while Republicans retained control of the Senate and the House, although the Party did lose some seats.

If Donald Trump – who has strongly hinted he will run – and Hillary Clinton ran in 2024, it would be a likely rematch of the vicious 2016 Presidential race.

Much is riding on the upcoming November midterm elections which will see US voters elect 435 Congressmen and women as well as 34 Senators.

If Democrats lose either Congress or the Senate, they will likely be unable to pass any meaningful legislation and will have to rely on President Joe Biden to veto bills they oppose.
