‘Something about new innovations’: Hilarious sign fail leaves dental centre bosses grinding their teeth
- Sign fail was spotted in window of Heronsgate Dental Care in south-east London
- Among list of what is on offer, it includes: ‘Something about new innovations’
- The error has received the routine comedy treatment from social media users
A dental surgery in London has been left red-faced after new signage on its windows appears to feature literal instructions of what to show off to prospective patients.
Heronsgate Dental Care seemingly wanted to let passersby know that they have new and innovative techniques at the clinic, based in Plumstead, Thamesmead.
But part of the new sign, which takes pride of place on the southeast London surgery’s street-facing window, appears to have skipped the editing stage.
In a list format, the sign states: ‘NHS/ private, emergency treatment, new patients welcome, home visits for the elderly and disabled; cosmetic dentistry, tooth jewellery.’
It then adds: ‘Something about new innovations.’
The list then returns to normal, continuing: ‘Nervous and anxious patients welcome; sundries, late nights available by appointment, disabled access.’

Social media users said the error had ‘made my morning’ while one quipped: ‘That was an unfilled cavity’ (Pictured: Heronsgate Dental Care)
It seems bosses of the surgery had commissioned the sign, but forgot to elaborate on how innovative they were, instead sending off their unedited copy before making the final necessary tweak.
The error has received the routine comedy treatment on social media, with one user joking: ‘So, what would you like me to put on your window? Oh, I dunno, something about new innovations.’
Another said: ‘This has made my morning!’, while one quipped: ‘That was an unfilled cavity.’
One added: ‘That’ll really encourage the nervous and anxious patients.’
It comes after a road sign error in Wales last month mistakenly told motorists: ‘When light is cock, wait here’ – causing outrage among Welsh drivers.
The offending message had been erected next to traffic lights in Monmouthshire, south-east Wales, and was supposed to read: ‘When red light shows, wait here.’
But bundling builders who were contracted to organise the signage misspelled the Welsh word for ‘red’ – and wrote ‘gock’ instead of ‘goch’.
A recent offending message (pictured) was placed next to traffic lights in Monmouthshire, south-east Wales, and was supposed to read: ‘When red light shows, wait here’ – but reads instead: ‘When light is cock, wait here’
The balls-up was spotted after drivers pointed out there was no letter K in the Welsh language alphabet.
And while some Welsh speakers on social media saw the funny side, some called on councils to ‘get it right’ on bilingual signs.
One wrote: ‘We don’t even have the letter K in the Welsh alphabet so it’s a bad translation to start with.’
Another said: ‘It is funny, but it does make my blood boil that the authorities can’t get it right.’
