Harry and Meghan’s US popularity plunging as majority ‘not interested’ in memoir

Nigel Farage has claimed that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are losing support in the US because audiences are “disinterested” in the Duke of Sussex's upcoming memoir.

Since stepping down from royal duties last year, the couple have embarked on a number of enterprises under their newly-founded Archewell company banner.

And in one revelatory move, the prince announced he would be releasing a memoir in late 2022. He said the autobiography will be a “firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful”.

This has led to eyebrows reportedly being raised in the Royal Family at what details might be revealed.

Now, speaking on his GB News show, Nigel Farage has suggested that the memoir release has failed to spark an interest among US audiences.

He claimed: "The polls recently, when people were asked about whether they were interested in buying or reading the new book – the new bombshell, the new truth-bombs that are going to come out – a vast majority were utterly and completely disinterested.

"Most people I know don't want to hear another word from them ever again.

"Ultimately, they are discrediting themselves. They are doing it rapidly in this country, it's beginning to happen in the US as well where they're nowhere near as popular as they were before.

"Short-term they've hurt the monarchy. Longer term I don't think they're going to make any difference."

Another aspect of their effort to establish new identities away from ‘The Firm’ at Buckingham Palace has seen Harry and Meghan take on media production work. At Christmas last year, a podcast project was announced with Spotify.

With no episodes since then, royal biographer Omid Scobie recently claimed that we can expect to see a release soon.

Omid also speculated that Harry's memoir may "bring royal issues to light that pre-date Meghan", therefore addressing deeper rooted issues within the institution.

This comes as speculation mounts over whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will return to the UK for the christening of their daughter Lilibet, with reports suggesting that the couple are eager to have the ceremony take place in front of the Queen.
