Grieving dad who gunned down dead son’s suspected murderer facing murder charge

A father who shot his son's suspected murderer to death while he was on his way to court is now facing homicide charges.

46-year-old Bokio B. Johnson has been accused of shooting to death Hollis Carter, 21, who was reportedly about to answer charges for the killing of Johnson's son, Caleb Johnson, 18.

Carter had also allegedly gunned down the 25-year-old stepsister of Johnson, Breyiana Brown.

The killing, which saw Johnson turn the gun on his son's suspected killer and kill him with a bullet to the head has been described as a "street justice" drive-by slaying that left one dead and one injured.

Johnson then turned the gun on Hollis' mother after shooting the 21-year old dead, with the mother currently in hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The driver of a black Ford F-150 pulled up alongside the victims' car and let off at least eight shots, opening fire on the vehicle.

The "justice" shooting was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) who said in a statement on March 25: "The NOPD today arrested Bokio B. Johnson in the investigation of a homicide on March 23, 2022".

The statement added that the incident had left "one person dead and a second injured".

The statement also said that "officers located the woman lying on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her body and the man was located inside of a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his head."

Officers said that the woman was "transported to a local hospital in critical condition."

On identifying Johnson, the statement read: "Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified Johnson as a suspect in this incident.

"A search warrant was obtained and executed on Johnson's residence, where Johnson was located.

"After interview, Johnson was determined to be the perpetrator in this incident and was placed under arrest. He was booked accordingly into the Orleans Parish Justice Center."
