Furious woman ‘mortified’ after husband splashes out £30 on Tesco leg of lamb
A leg of lamb has divided the Internet, after an angry wife told how her husband spent more than £30 on the item.
Rozalia Linder posted on Facebook that she was “absolutely mortified” when she found out that husband Clive had shelled out £30.86 on a leg of lamb from Tesco.
And the issue has been dubbed “lambgate”, the Manchester Evening News reports.
She wrote, using a lot of exclamation marks: “I sent Clive to Tesco for a leg of lamb… £30.86p!!!
"Absolutely Mortified at the price!!
“He did question the price and accepted the answer and paid.
“However, I’m not prepared to pay this!!
“Some families don’t even have £30 a week to feed their children – something Needs to be done.
“I Will be taking this item back to Tesco tomorrow and asking for my money back!!!!!!"
While most users in the What's On In Ramsbottom Facebook group agreed that, while the lamb is expensive, it was his choice to buy it, two local pubs took advantage of the situation.
The Old Cobblers Inn wrote: "This post is for Clive, if you're in the what's on in Ramsbottom group you will understand.
“Clive get back in the good graces and pop in for a carvery cheaper than the £30 leg of lamb and served all day."
Would you buy a leg of lamb for that price? Let us know in the comments below!
And the Red Lion at Hawkshaw posted: "You will probably agree that Clive deserves a free Sunday roast, so Clive!
“Bring your receipt for the lamb and we'll give you and your other half a complimentary roast #saveclive ".
Facebook users saw the funny side of it, however, as Bill Higham joked: “I don't know why Clive is being lambasted".
And Ben Price added: “I know how you feel – I bought some venison the other day, that was dead dear too.”
There has been no update since the original post, so nobody knows whether or not the lamb has been returned.
According to the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, the price of lamb dropped last week by 12.8 per cent – so it's a good thing Clive bought it last week, not the week before.
The Daily Star has reached out to Tesco to find out why the item was so expensive, and if it can be returned.
