Frantic man stuck in traffic with nothing to wee in calls police

A man who was caught in traffic and needed to pee, ended up calling 911 in order to ask for help.

The incident took place in the Canadian province of Ontario, when the distressed man called the emergency services and asked for an ambulance, before changing his mind and saying he actually needed the police instead, the New York Post reports.

In the 38-second audio clip the dispatcher is shocked to hear the man’s 'emergency' and asks him: "This is your emergency – that you have to pee?"

Once the caller confirms this, the dispatcher replies: "And how are the police going to help you urinate?"

The caller pleads again adding: "I have to pee, man," before the dispatcher snaps, saying: "I’m not sure what you’d like me to do if you have to urinate. I can’t help you with that. I’m disconnecting. Thanks, bye," before hanging up.

Peel Regional Police Department released the audio clip of the phone call as part of a public service announcement, reminding people not to use the emergency number for non-emergency calls that can take precious seconds away from those needed assistance in real emergencies.

The department tweeted: "Calling 9-1-1 because you need to use the bathroom and the car ahead isn’t moving fast enough, is definitely NotFor911.

"9-1-1 misuse can potentially prevent someone with a life-threatening emergency from getting help on time."

Leon Marandola, 20, got in touch with the coastguard 19 times while he was a member of the Buckie RNLI crew in Moray, Scotland.

Marandola was not sent out once though, as he didn’t have the necessary experience and he admitted sending the messages for the purpose of causing "annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety".
