Fetty Wap is RELEASED from jail on $500,000 bail after heroin and fentanyl trafficking charges in 'drugs ring' bust
RAPPER Fetty Wap has been bonded out of lockup after posting $500,000 following his indictment of being a member of a multi-million drug trafficking ring.
The rapper, whose real name is William Junior Maxwell II, appeared in Central Islip federal court and was permitted to walk free after plunking down the six-figure sum and agreeing to an electronic monitoring system among other restrictions.
Fetty Wap is one of a half-dozen suspected heroin and fentanyl pushers who also include 23-year-old New Jersey correctional officer Anthony Cyntje, who were rounded up and charged last month by the feds with conspiring to distribute and possess controlled substances, according to NJ.com.
He was arrested by the FBI on October 28 before he took the stage at the Rolling Loud concert at Citi Field stadium in Queens, New York City.
The alleged drug operation pedaled more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl across Long Island and New Jersey from June 2019 to June 2020, according to the federal indictment that was obtained by the The Sun.
The FBI seized $1.5million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, two kilograms of heroin, "numerous" fentanyl pills, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition, according to court documents.
The multi-platinum artist has pleaded not guilty.
Wap's alleged co-defendants include Anthony Leonardi, Brian Sullivan and Kavaughn L. Wiggins, according to the indictment.
“The pipeline of drugs in this investigation ran thousands of miles from the West Coast to the communities here in our area, contributing to the addiction and overdose epidemic we have seen time and time again tear people's lives apart," FBI Assistant Director Michael Driscoll.
"The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become," he said.
Fetty Wap was allegedly moonlighting as a "kilogram-level redistributor" while the corrections officer Cyntje allegedly dealt with the logistics, moving the ring's product from Long Island, New York to New Jersey.
Robert and Anthony Leonardi, Sullivan and Wiggins allegedly supplied the drugs from a West Coast connection and shipped it to Long Island using the US Postal Service and drivers who cloaked the drugs in hidden compartments, prosecutors stated.
Wap's arrest comes just months after his daughter Lauren died from a heart defect and his brother was shot dead.
On June 24, four-year-old Lauren died from a fatal cardiac arrhythmia.
The rapper appeared in a video asking followers to post butterflies in her honor because she “loved” them.
Four months later the rapper revealed his brother Twyshon Depew had been killed.
Fetty wrote on Instagram: "I love you lil bro my twin… I failed you bro I’m sorry …"
