England and Scotland fans filmed in huge fight at UK’s biggest army base

This is the shocking moment Scotland and England fans brawl at the UK’s largest army base as bagpipes play in the background.

The footage starts with the supporters chanting at each other from opposite sides of Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire.

England fans can be seen belting out The Three Lions at the Tartan Army who are standing on the other side of a square.

Around 10 Scotland supporters then attempt to drown out the singing by using bagpipes.

The clip then cuts to show how scenes quickly turned violent.

Around a dozen men, with some wearing Scotland strips and kilts, can be seen scuffling as one person draped in an England flag falls to the floor.

He is then kicked in the back and stomach by another man before being punched in the face.

Throughout the whole incident, bagpipes continue to play.

Catterick, the largest British Army garrison in the world, houses the 1st Battalion of the Scots Guards and the Highlanders 4th Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The 1st Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment and the 1st Regiment of the Royal Military Police and the Royal Lancers cavalry regiment are also among the English-based regiments located there.

The initial footage showing the rival sides chanting at each other was posted publicly on social media yesterday (June 23) with the caption: “This is brilliant.”

It has since attracted nearly 500 likes and more than 280 shares.

Some social media users later took to the clip to share the second scene which captured the base erupting into chaos.

A British Army spokesman today (June 24) said: "“We can confirm an incident took place last week in Catterick Garrison, Service Police are investigating, and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this stage."

"If any soldiers have been found to not be meeting our Values & Standards, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.”

It is not clear what day exactly the fight took place last week but it came as England played Scotland at Euro 2020.

Ahead of the match, which finished 0-0, thousands of Scotland fans defied restrictions to flood the streets of London.
