Denver sets record-high temperature for second day in a row.

Denver set another high-temperature record, for the second day in a row, when the mercury rose to 97 degrees at Denver International Airport on Wednesday.

The previous record-high temperature for Denver on June 16 was set just last year at 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

On Tuesday, Denver’s weather sizzled with a high temperature of 101 degrees, surpassing the prior record for June 15, which was 97 degrees in both 1952 and 1993, according to the weather service.

Wednesday’s 97-degree record was reached at 12:20 p.m., so it may increase as the day progresses. The weather service forecast called for a high temperature of 100 degrees today. DIA is the official weather setting for Denver.

Denver has set up “cooling centers” at the city’s recreation centers to help people beat the extreme heat.

Extreme heat is expected along the Front Range again on Thursday, with the potential for record-breaking temps, the weather service said. High temperatures should once again be in the upper 90s and possibly top 100 degrees.

Thursday’s high temperature in Denver is expected to be 99 degrees before a slight cool down, with temps in the low 90s, going into the weekend.
