DEFIANT Brits are flocking to the beaches of Europe to avoid over-crowded seaside staycations where the Covid-19 risk is often higher.
Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 have all reported a jump in passenger numbers, while BA has resumed flights to 14 destinations on the continent.

Budget holidays to Spain and Portugal are still on — despite not being on the Government quarantine-free list.
And families are dashing to book the getaways so they can complete the two-week isolation before the schools reopen next month.
Others are going for holiday slots to Greece and Turkey, where there has been “a real spike in demand”, say airlines — with coronavirus rates far lower than the packed and pricey staycation options back home.
Many are willing to get abroad despite the risk of other nations falling off the quarantine list if Europe’s second wave continues to grow.
The news comes as the Government was blasted by the Home Affairs Select Committee on Tuesday for changing guidelines and delivering “very unhelpful” messages for holidaymakers.
Yvette Cooper, chair of the committee, said: “The Government needs to be much more sensitive to the impact on families and businesses of last-minute decisions.”

Easyjet said it is expanding its schedule to 40 per cent of normal capacity between July and September, compared with the 30 per cent it predicted in June.
The company explained it started flying again in the middle of June and carried 117,000 passengers in the 132,000 seats it had available in the last two weeks of the quarter.
Johan Lundgren, easyJet chief executive, said: “Our bookings for the remainder of the summer are performing better than expected.”
