Countdown's Rachel Riley called 'brainwashed and thick' for speaking out against Jeremy Corbyn in anti-Semitism row

COUNTDOWN’s Rachel Riley has been slammed as “brainwashed and thick” for speaking out against Jeremy Corbyn in a row over anti-Semitism.

The TV star, 32, has been attacked by left-wing trolls after tweeting links criticising the Labour leader.

However, despite being called “shallow and mendacious” by Corbyn supporters – Rachel has refused to join them in a slanging match.

She replied: “Much as I appreciate being called Tory, brainwashed and thick, I don’t have any party loyalties, I form my opinions based on available evidence.

“Religion wise, I choose Man United. Life wise I choose the options without intolerance, hatred and fear. #AntiSemitism.”

However, this did little to calm the trolls who ordered her to “stick to adding up” and accused the presenter and maths whizz of “spreading sick propaganda”.

Another wrote: “You're embarrassing yourself Rachel. These are all publications known for their consistent attacking of Corbyn and his socialist politics.”

Since Mr Corbyn became leader in 2015, his leadership has been dogged by criticism that the party harbours virulently anti-Semitic activists and campaigners among the membership.

But Labour members clashed most recently over the party’s acceptance of International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism, including the 11 examples of "contemporary anti-Semitism".

In July, Labour's ruling National Executive Committee, which is stuffed with hard-left Corbyn supporters, voted to leave out some of the IHRA examples.

But after weeks of controversy and uproar from Jewish MPs and supporters, the committee finally followed the lead of 31 countries and 130 UK councils by adopting the IHRA definition in full.

However, fresh controversy was caused this week when it emerged that a vandal who daubed graffitti on the Warsaw ghetto was a "good friend" of Mr Corbyn.

The Labour leader is reported to have praised Ewa Jasiewicz, 40, at a rally supporting Gaza in 2009.

In footage seen by MailOnline, he said: "I was brought to tears by a description sent to me by my good friend Ewa Jasiewicz.

"We send our regard, respect and affection to Ewa and all those who are there in solidarity with the Palestinian people."

Jasiewicz is due to speak at the Momentum festival during the Labour Party conference later this month.

Corbyn, 69, and his shadow chancellor John McDonnell will also address the event.

The campaigner sparked fury in 2010 when she scribbled pro-Palestinian graffiti in the Warsaw ghetto.
