- Court filings allege that Jamie spent $1.5m of Britney’s money on maintaining a house in Louisiana that belonged to her, before he sold it to himself
- Britney’s lawyers filed the claims of financial misconduct after Jamie petitioned for his daughter to cover the costs of extensive legal fees he racked up last year
Britney Spears has formally accused her father Jamie of splashing millions of her hard earned dollars while in his role as her conservator.
Court documents filed by Britney’s legal team yesterday brought a number of claims against James P. Spears – referred to as Jamie – after he petitioned to have Britney pay for legal fees associated with her conservatorship.
Chief among the allegations made by Britney’s lawyer were that her father paid close to $6 million from her estate to a security firm which allegedly managed to obtain private phone records of Britney’s mother Lynne.
The documents also allege that Jamie, 69, spent $1.5 million of his 40-year-old daughter’s money on maintaining a house in Louisiana that belonged to her, before he sold it to himself.
Britney’s lawyers filed the claims of financial misconduct after Jamie petitioned for his daughter to cover the costs of extensive legal fees he racked up last year when he was removed as the pop-star’s conservator after nearly 14 years.
The petition regarding Jamie’s legal fees and other fees charged during the conservatorship are set to be discussed later today at a court hearing in LA.
It comes as Britney’s legal team also sent a cease and desist letter to her younger sister Jamie Lynn, threatening legal action should the 30-year-old continue mentioning Britney on the promotional tour of her memoir.

In the petition, Jamie’s lawyer Alex Weingarten argued that his client’s legal fees should be paid for by Britney’s estate because Jamie had engaged in no wrongdoing.
But Mathew Rosengart, representing Britney, challenged this claim in court papers filed yesterday, calling for the court to reject Jamie’s demands in light of the allegations of misconduct brought against him.
In the court papers, Rosengart wrote that the allegations against Britney’s father are ‘specific, credible and serious, ranging from abuse to conflicts of interest, financial mismanagement and corruption of the conservatorship to implicating state and federal criminal law.’
A Los Angeles judge in November formally approved the process of ending the controversial conservatorship led by Jamie, which had allowed him to control many aspects of his daughter’s life since it was established in 2008 amid the popstar’s mental health concerns.
One of the main allegations made by Britney’s legal team against her father suggests he paid the firm Black Box Security to monitor Britney’s phone to determine her contact with lawyers and the media, as well as secretly recording her in her bedroom.
According to The New York Times, court documents also alleged that the security firm was able to obtain GPS data of people known to be close to Britney for surveillance purposes – though it is unknown how the security firm would have accessed this information.
Kroll investigator Sherine Ebadi, retained by Britney’s legal team to uncover Jamie’s management of the estate, was able to corroborate the allegations that Black Box Security was used to monitor Britney’s phone
Ebadi said in the court filing seen by The Times she had interviewed former Black Box employee Alex Vlasov who claimed the company had allegedly obtained private phone records for Britney’s mother and close friends to find out if they were speaking to the media.
Jamie also allegedly asked Black Box Security to send him Britney’s ‘therapy notes’ from her iCloud account – despite this being prohibited without his daughter’s permission.
The filing also claimed that Jamie had covered many of is living expenses with his daughter’s money, and also drew $1.5 million from her funds to maintain a house she owned in Louisiana.
These are just two allegations among a host of other alleged financial misconduct, mismanagement and self-dealing claims brought against Jamie by his eldest daughter.
An LA court is expected to hear Jamie Spears’ petition calling for Britney to pay his legal fees related to the conservatorship later today.

A conservatorship is granted by a court for individuals who are unable to make their own decisions, and is often used in cases where someone is the victim of dementia, Alzheimer’s or other mental illnesses.
Britney conservatorship was established in 2008 after her highly-publicized struggles with mental health, and was split into two parts – one for her estate and financial affairs, and the other for her personal life.
Jamie Spears was placed in charge of both parts of the conservatorship and as a result enjoyed extreme control over his daughter’s life and funds.
Jamie was suspended as Britney’s conservator in September 2021 and the conservatorship was officially ended in November after the popstar tried for months to free herself of the legal arrangement.
Since her conservatorship ended, Britney has been extremely vocal and has hit out at several of her family members for their conduct.
In addition to filing court documents against her father, Britney’s lawyer also send a cease-and-desist letter ordering her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, to stop talking about her.

Now, lawyer Mathew Rosengart has written a stinging letter to Jamie Lynn, demanding that she ‘cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily’ and threatening ‘all appropriate legal action’ should the actress not comply.
‘We write with some hesitation because the last thing Britney wants is to bring more attention to your ill-timed book and its misleading or outrageous claims about her,’ the letter read.
‘Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read your book, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you have exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it, nor should she.’
The letter comes as Britney hit out against Jamie Lynn and her mother Lynne in a fiery Instagram post in which she said she should have slapped them both ‘across their f***ing faces’.
