Boy, 4, shoots himself in the head with dad's gun as he sat in car with mom – 'who was smoking weed with friend'
A BOY is dead after shooting himself while he was in the car with his mother, who was smoking pot, according to investigators.
At a press conference on Monday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto announced Jarion Walker, 4, died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
The incident occurred in a vehicle in Westwego, Louisiana on January 29 at approximately 10:45pm.
Walker was reportedly in the backseat of the car with two younger siblings, both under the age of two, when he found a gun under the seat.
The gun reportedly belonged to the boy's father, who was not present in the vehicle.
The boy was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his wounds.

Authorities shared that Walker's mother and another person, both of whom remain unidentified, were smoking marijuana in the car at the time of the incident.
The two reportedly admitted to not paying attention to the children in the back seat.
Investigators were initially looking into the possibility that one of the younger siblings had shot Walker.
The gunshot appeared to be at the back of the boy's head at first.
However, that was ruled out by Jefferson Parish Coroner Gerry Cvitanovich, who found that the wound was “a contact wound to the forehead, right above the right eyebrow," according to Independent.
Lopinto said this discovery "made it more probable that it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound by the 4-year-old.”
“We did not think it was possible for a four-year-old to manipulate a weapon to be able to shoot in that angle that the bullet entered in from,” Lopinto said.
No arrests have been made in the case, though detectives plan to complete a full investigation of the incident.
"I don’t think it was appropriate to make an arrest at this point," Lopinto said.
"They just lost a child, and it certainly wasn’t intentional, by any means."
