Biden prioritises Queen over Meghan and Harry’s White House invite, expert says

A royal commentator has claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been snubbed by President Joe Biden, with the US leader instead reportedly preferring to visit the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

During last year's November election, the Sussexes released a video urging Americans to vote, and Harry has reportedly remained friends with first lady Dr Jill Biden after they met while the prince was on royal duties.

And now, royal commentator Neil Sean has suggested that the Sussexes had hoped that their indirect support for Biden during the recent US election would result in an invitation to visit the White House.

But despite the President having visited the Queen recently in June, Neil claimed that the pull of the royal institution continues to carry more weight for the American leader.

“Allegedly, it appears that the draw of the British monarchy is far bigger, because now we can look forward once again to President Biden coming over to the United Kingdom, not just to meet Her Majesty the Queen, but also Prince Charles, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,” he suggested, speaking on his YouTube channel.

“According to a very good source in California, this hasn’t gone down particularly well.

“As we all know, Miss Markle is apparently very keen to get her designer heels under that famous desk at the White House, if not now, certainly some time in the future.”

As working royals, Harry and Meghan had been unable to express political opinions until they stepped down from royal duties last year.

However, Meghan reportedly made history by becoming the first modern royal to vote in a US presidential election, and some royal commentators have suggested that the former Suits actress may go into politics in her new working life.

With this in mind, Neil suggested that the supposed snub by Prince Biden will not be well received by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“For Harry and Meghan of course this is another blow, and perhaps a dose of reality to make sure that they realise that not everything they hoped for, wished for, or thought may come their way by quitting the British Royal Family, would come true,” he continued.

“It must be rather galling for the two ex-royals to sit at home, all the way over in the United States, to see something that they could have been very much part of if they’d have retained their roles within the British monarchy."

No official announcement of a Presidential visit to the Queen has yet been made, and speculation is currently intensifying over when Harry and Meghan might next return to the UK, with the monarch yet to meet her great-granddaughter Lilibet.

Representatives for the Sussexes have been approached for comment.
