The BBC weather presenter provided an update on the mixed conditions facing Europeans over the coming days. Mr Schafernaker said the weather across Europe is split between wet weather in the west and more sunshine in the east of the continent. Meanwhile, Spain is set for a heatwave which could break all-time records for temperatures at this time of year. While the UK is faced with less sunshine and higher chances of rainstorms and showers.
Schafernaker said: “The weather remains very split across Europe.
“On the one hand in the east we have the hot sunshine the hot summer weather.
“In the west, though we have the cool Atlantic conditions, frequent showers.
“The bit in between the dividing line that is where we will see some nasty thunderstorm breaking out during the course of Thursday.”

“Anywhere from the Alpine region into parts of Germany and Poland as well.
“And you can see parts of Warsaw as well 33 degrees celsius, Berlin 23C and there is that weather front as it moves out of Germany.
“Through the Alpine region into Austria, the Czech Republic and into Poland as well.
“South and east of that we have plenty of heat and clear skies across most of Turkey and the Balkans.”

“In Bucharest around 31C but up to 37C closer to the Adriatic coast.
“A lot of heat in Spain and Portugal but a word of warning in the coming day we are expecting temperatures to significantly rise across Spain
“Possibly the mid or high 40s.
Possibly even challenging all-time records for high temperatures in Spain for the summer.”

Looking ahead at the weekend temperatures across Europe.
Madrid is set for highs of up to 39C with the peak of the heatwave coming on Sunday.
London meanwhile is predicted to see thunderstorms and showers over the weekend.
Paris is set for a similar spell of drizzle while Rome sees more sunshine with temperatures in the low 30s.
