BBC Weather forecaster Matt Taylor warned of the extremely unsettled weather conditions for Friday going into the weekend. He warned of gusts just shy of 78mph as a swirl of rain covers the country. Going into the weekend, Britons can expect the wet weather to continue as well.
Saturday will begin with sunshine for many but a wall of rain will eventually move in from the west to strike the country.
Mr Taylor said: “This swirl of cloud is more reminiscent of an air of low pressure that you get in October never mind in May.
“It is under that swirl of cloud that we see all the rain and the strongest of the winds on the southern edge of it
“We will see winds over 75mph across some parts of western Wales.”

For Saturday the weather forecaster noted the beginning of the day will see some of the rain move to the east of the UK causing sunshine for a time.
However, another wall of rain is set to move in across the country from the Atlantic ocean by late Saturday evening.
