Boris Johnson spoke to the nation on Monday afternoon and spoke about the upcoming changes for England as the country moves into the next stage of the Covid roadmap. Mr Johnson praised the work of the NHS and the people of Britain for doing their part in keeping cases down in the fight against coronavirus. The Prime Minister hinted that rules on social distancing could be completely gone by next month.
During the briefing, he said: “This unlock amounts to a very considerable step towards normality.
“I am confident that we will be able to go further.
“Subject to the impact of step three on the data, we remain on track to move to step four on 21st June.
“To give businesses more time to prepare, we’ll be saying more later this month about exactly what the world will look like and what role there could be, if any, for certification and social distancing.

“Today we are taking a step towards that moment when we learnt to live responsibility with Covid.
“When we cease to rely on detailed Government updates and make our own decisions based on the best scientific advice to protect our families and those around us.”
While taking questions from journalists, Mr Johnson again hinted about the possibility of removing social distancing as covid measures.
He also reiterated the likelihood that individuals will be charged with making good decisions on how they protect themselves from Covid.

He said: “Whatever is done will be done with caution and restraint.
“It is about basic common sense.
“When it comes to social distancing from June the 21st, I look at the data very carefully and it looks to me as though we may be able to dispense with the 1 metre plus rule.

“That is not yet decided, that is not yet clear so we will have to wait and see.
“It is by being prudent and being cautious that we have been able to make the progress that we have.
“As I said we will be saying more to everybody.
“We will be saying more to business to give everybody as much clarity as we can about how they should prepare by the end of this month.
