In a discussion on BBC’s Today programme on the mixed messaging coming from ministers on the dangers of Britons travelling to ‘amber list’ countries, Tory MP Peter Bone made a hilarious slip of the tongue. The MP’s clanger came as he was referring to George Eustice’s comments on the Covid safety of Amber list countries which Bone disagreed with.
Mr Bone said: “I think we could be a little bit more ambitous with the green list.
“But we are moving in the right direction.”
Peter Bone was then asked about the mixed messaging from a number of ministers, including Lord Bethel and the Environment Secretary George Eustace on the safety of travel
The Tory MP said: “Well I thought Lord Bethell’s comments were wrong, just plain wrong. Anyone who knows anything about the travel industry, is that it goes out of its way to put safety as its number one issue.”

And in a hilairous slip of the tongue, Peter Bone said: “George useless I think was also not correct.”
But Martha Kearney interjected swiftly to correct the Tory’s slip of the tongue, saying: “George EUSTACE I think!
“I think you might have been using a bit of nickname!”
But Mr Bone insisted: “It is early in the morning, at least for me anyway!”
GMB: Adil Ray clashes with Gillian Keegan over Indian variant
Prime Minister Boris Johnson told Britons not to travel to amber list countries on holiday, amid mixed messages from ministers on international travel.
Mr Johnson said: “I think it’s very important for people to grasp what an amber list country is: it is not somewhere where you should be going on holiday, let me be very clear about that.
“And if people do go to an amber list country, they absolutely have to for some pressing family or urgent business reason, then please bear in mind that you will have to self-isolate, you’ll have to take tests and do your passenger locator form and all the rest of it.”
The confusion around travel arose after Environment Secretary George Eustice said people can travel to amber list countries if they quarantined when they returned.
