Philadelphia 76ers B-Ball Team Will Feature Crypto.Com On Jerseys

As president of the basketball team the Philadelphia 76ers, Chis Heck discovered cryptocurrency during the coronavirus pandemic. He saw that literally tens of thousands of Americans are involved in the digital trading space, and he also discovered a string of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that are centered around the game of basketball.

The 76ers are Heading Into Crypto Territory

It was at this moment that he knew he had to get himself – and his team – involved somehow. Today, the Philadelphia 76ers have edged out a deal with Crypto.com, and the team is gladly including the logo of the company on all their jerseys. It is estimated that the present deal between the basketball team and the firm will last several years, and that the deal is worth approximately eight figures at the time of writing. That’s a lot of money…

As part of the arrangement, the 76ers are set to receive their own line of NFTs, which will debut on the Crypto.com website in the coming weeks. Heck explained in a recent interview:

Some people thought it would be a fad, and then suddenly, it just continued to grow in value and it’s not going anywhere but up. That was super exciting for our team to not only see this space grow, but also figure out how we can participate in it for our fans in Philadelphia and beyond.

The 76ers are set to begin displaying the Crypto.com name on their jerseys beginning October 4 during a game scheduled in Toronto. This will coincide with the release of the team’s new NFTs, which are designed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 76ers. Heck mentions:

What that means for fans of the Sixers is that they get to be a part of it too, because that’s who it’s for.

Founded in the year 2016, Crypto.com boasts more than ten million users across the globe. Kris Marszalek is the CEO of the firm and says that partnerships like this do more than just spread the word when it comes to crypto. Rather, it helps large partners and companies seeking entry into the crypto space discover how they can best apply the power of blockchain and crypto to themselves.

Discussing the team’s history, Marszalek says:

This is a young team, but one with a tremendous upward trajectory and an ambitious one. We think that during this partnership, the 76ers are going to make history, so we just wanted to be a part of it.

Heck Feels Crypto Will Go a Long Way

Heck is confident that much like social media in 2010 and 2011, cryptocurrency is going to grow to unprecedented levels, and that the space will ultimately prove to be the “next big frontier.” He says:

It represents kind of the fandom of sport, and quite frankly, the people of our world have become more inclined and more engaged with each other. These digital currencies, they really do have no boundaries.
